The Prayer Center of Orland Park was established to worship the one and only God, the God of Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and the Last Messenger, Muhammad. Peace be upon all of them.
The Prayer Center of Orland Park has been organized as an Illinois non-for-profit corporation under the name THE PRAYER CENTER. The Prayer Center has obtained designation from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a charitable, religious, and/or education organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The construction of The Prayer Center is now complete! The construction process has been blessed and has run smoothly. The building permit was filed with the village of Orland Park, and ground was broken November 2004. Numerous fundraising events were planned and held as we hoped to complete construction of The Prayer Center before Summer of 2006. In June of 2006, doors have opened for our 5 daily prayers as well our Friday Prayer (Jumuah). Alhamdulillah (all praise be to God), the entire process from the ground-breaking ceremony to the entire completion of the mosque has taken approximately a year and a half. The support and assistance of our community was essential and we appreciated all the input throughout the process.
The outside features of The Prayer Center will resemble The Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, which is near Masjid Al-Aqsa, the third holiest site for Muslims. May God guide us to achieve this goal with ease and efficiency. The Prayer Center is approximately 22,000 square feet and consists of 3 levels. The lower level will serve as a multi-purpose room where lectures and other educational funtions will occur. The first level will serve as the main prayer hall where the five daily prayers and the weekly Friday prayer will be held. The mezzanine level, looking down at the prayer hall with a clear view of the imam, will be used as additional prayer space. The Prayer Center will have ample parking for easy entry and exit intended for maximum effficiency. Please note, the automobile traffic flow is one way, where the north side is the entrance and the south side is the exit. If you visit the mosque on a busy prayer time, make sure to follow the instructions of the parking staff.
Feel free to browse this site and view our construction progress via our photo gallery. Again, we urge you to do what you can in supporting this mosque. It is never too late to donate. And you can donate via credit card by clicking the donation/credit card logo to the left. Please be generous; it is most appreciated.
